Guy Opperman MP's annual Over 50s Fair has been hailed as a success after it was attended by over 100 local people.
The Fair, which is held on an annual basis in Ponteland, was held on Thursday 29 February at the Ponteland Memorial Hall. 46 community groups set up their stalls in the hall, including local charities, volunteering organisations, hobby clubs, and employers. The event was sponsored by Newcastle International Airport.
Many of the organisations present offered free advice, such as Karbon Silver Talk, Age UK, and Northumberland County Council's Warmer Homes Scheme.
Commenting on the Over 50s Fair, Mr Opperman said:
'I want to make sure local people have the opportunities, advice, and help they need. That is why I hold an Over 50s Fair and I was delighted to see it so well attended this year.
'The hall was bustling from start to finish, and full of friendly organisations who attendees could chat to in a welcoming environment about a new job, a new hobby, or an exciting volunteering opportunity.
'Huge thanks to everyone for coming along and making it such a success. I will be holding my annual Jobs Fair later in the year, and I very much hope to see some of the same faces there.'
