I'm Guy Opperman and I was honoured to have been re-elected in 2015 to represent the people of Tynedale and Ponteland as your local Member of Parliament. On this website, you can find the latest local news and updates. There is also a link to my blog.

My plan is that, by 2020, Tynedale and Ponteland will have the best schools in Northumberland. In 2010, 60% of Tynedale and Ponteland students received five GCSEs (Grades A*-C), including maths and English. By 2020 I want to ensure our schools have the resources to raise this to a minimum of 70%.

During my time as an MP, I have led successful campaigns to ensure vital services stay at Hexham General, to build a brand new hospital for West Tynedale, and to scrap VAT for Air Ambulances. I will continue to support an NHS that works for everyone.
