Guy Opperman MP news: MP and Councillor welcome road safety measures for Highfield area of Prudhoe after campaign
Tynedale MP, Guy Opperman and Prudhoe Town Councillor, Tracey Gilmore have welcomed Northumberland County Council revealing proposals for road safety around Highfield Lane where both Highfield Middle School and St Matthews Catholic Primary School are situated.
The proposals follows a campaign by Guy Opperman and Tracey Gilmore to bring in road safety measures to protect the children at the nearby schools.
Cllr Gilmore recently met with Coun. Guy Renner-Thompson, Cabinet Member for Children Services at Northumberland County Council, to further the campaign.
Guy Opperman MP said:
“After years of campaigning for the safety of children at Highfield Middle School and St Matthews Catholic Primary School, I am delighted that NCC have come forward with a plan to address the real concerns of local residents”.
Cllr Tracey Gilmore said:
“I am very pleased that the concerns of local residents have been listened to following several meetings with school and council representatives”.
