Hexham MP Guy Opperman has encouraged parents and carers to make the most of the programmes that are on offer at Northumberland County Council's Family Hubs scheme.
Family Hubs provide support to parents and carers from across Northumberland to meet, learn, and take part in a wide range of activities and classes.
Programmes at Family Hubs are free and anyone who cares for or is expecting a child (pre-birth to 19 years old and up to 25 years of age for Special Education Needs and Disabilities) can register to access facilities.
Family Hubs across the county recently received a £3.5 million cash boost, with funding directly supporting more classes and recruiting extra staff. Local MP Guy Opperman visited the Family Hub in Hexham to see the difference the funding is making to support families and young people.
Commenting on the visit, Guy Opperman MP said:
'I was blown away by the facilities on offer at the Hexham Family Hub. The team of dedicated professionals work so hard to ensure parents, carers, and children can relax and socialise in a warm and friendly environment, as well as offering key advice on birth registrations as well as support with infant feeding.
I'm the father to a toddler myself, and it's fantastic to know that help is out readily available for other families to access. I can't recommend the programme enough for other parents out there.'
