Guy Opperman MP said:
“Although planning is an issue entirely devolved to the Council, I have taken an active interest in this case as I’m aware of the nuisance it has become for some residents in Prudhoe.
Alongside local Councillors, I have asked Northumberland County Council for a multi-agency response to tackle this issue.
The Government has recently introduced its Levelling up and Regeneration Bill, which will make a number of changes to the planning system. Key among them is the ability to issue fines if developers do not tell planning authorities when work will start, as well as making it easier for planning authorities to issue completion notices.
I am hopeful this may alleviate the situation on Cranbrook Drive, and I will be supporting the Bill.”
