Hexham MP, Guy Opperman has hailed further progress in his second public meeting with Northern Powergrid in Bellingham.
The meeting was well attended by representatives of parish councils and community groups from the local community.
During the meeting it was announced that Rochester Village Hall will receive £18,000 of funding to create an operational crisis centre for local residents for future adverse events.
There is funding of up to £20,000 available for parish councils with a resilience plan for a community hub after Mr Opperman’s campaign.
After the meeting, Guy Opperman MP said:

The Rochester Village Hall application for £18,000 for their village hall has been approved, a month after they submitted their application.

This award will enable the village hall to look after our community and operate as a Crisis Centre in all circumstances.”
