Hexham MP Guy Opperman and Cllr. Cath Homer have presented a Hexham Constituency Community Champion Award to Liz Clark of No.28 Community Project in Hexham.
Guy Opperman presented the award with Cath Homer to Liz Clark for supporting the local community through her volunteering work with the No.28 Community Project.
No. 28 is a Community Project at a community house on Derwent Road. Residents can come to the community house to access information and advice and signposting on issues such as housing, finding employment, accessing training, domestic abuse, health and debt management.
The Project provides free introductory training in gardening and IT skills and runs free creative sessions including: crafts, cookery, creative writing, self -care and self-development.
The Project currently has 20 volunteers bringing their many, various talents to enhance the project.
After presenting the Award, Guy Opperman said:
‘It was brilliant to present a Community Champion Award to Liz for all the hard work she has done to support the local community through the No.28 Community Project.
Liz and the team at No.28 do an amazing job at providing information and advice to local residents on a whole range of issues combined with running brilliant sessions from arts and crafts to growing your own fruit and veg’.
Cllr. Cath Homer said:
‘Liz has worked tirelessly to provide a vital service to residents during the pandemic in particular, keeping residents updated on how and where they could get help when most in need. I was delighted to see her receive this well deserved award.
