The below FAQs apply to the National Restrictions from 5 November - 2 December
Can I meet anyone outside my house?
Yes, you can meet one person from another household in an outdoor setting. If you have pre-school age children they do not count towards this figure.
Will leisure and sports facilities stay open?
Indoor and outdoor leisure facilities such as bowling alleys, leisure centres and gyms, sports facilities including swimming pools, golf courses and driving ranges, dance studios, stables and riding centres, soft play facilities, climbing walls and climbing centres, archery and shooting ranges, water and theme parks will close.
Will the FA Cup continue as planned?
Yes. Elite sports will be allowed to continue.
Is there a limit to exercise?
You are permitted to exercise outside as much as you wish. You can also drive to places to exercise. Public parks, gardens and grounds of historic houses will remain open.
Can I still move house?
Yes. The housing market will remain open throughout this period. Everyone should continue to play their part in reducing the spread of the virus by following the current guidance.
Should I still go to work on a construction site?
Yes. Anyone who cannot work effectively from home should travel to work and follow the relevant guidance for their workplace. This is essential to keeping the country operating and supporting vital sectors.
Will my local Place of Worship close?
They can remain open – but only for limited activities such as individual prayer, funerals & formal childcare. Sadly communal prayer will not be possible at this time, & weddings will only be permitted in exceptional circumstances.
I previously shielded – will I need to do so again?
You will not be asked to shield in the same way again but if you are clinically extremely vulnerable you should minimise contact with others. The full guidance can be found here.
Can a tradesman or women come into my home?
Yes. Tradespeople like electricians, plumbers, repairers of domestic appliances can enter your home. They will need to follow social distancing guidance that has already been published.
Will Remembrance services still happen?
Remembrance services will be different this year. You can find the published guidance here.
Can hardware stores and builders merchants remain open?
Yes. Hardware stores and those selling building supplies will be able to operate.
Can arts venues open for rehearsals and to stream performances?
Yes. Arts venues are places of work, so people can come into them for work, if it cannot be undertaken from home. This includes rehearsals and performance. Audiences are not permitted.
Can I go on holiday within the UK or travel abroad?
Overnight stays and holidays away from primary residences will not be allowed. This includes holidays abroad and in the UK. It also means you cannot stay in a second home, if you own one, or staying with anyone you do not live with or are in a support bubble with. There are specific exceptions, for example if you need to stay away from home (including in a second home) for work purposes, but this means people cannot travel overseas or within the UK, unless for work, education or other legally permitted reasons.
